On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, a ceremony was held at the Central Police Office to affix promotion ranks to 55 Lahore Police officers who have been promoted from the rank of Sub-Inspector to Inspector. IG Punjab himself pinned the promotion ranks to the promoted officers.
On the occasion, IG Punjab said that so far this year, a total of 765 Sub-Inspectors have been promoted in five Promotion Boards. Additionally, 75 Traffic Wardens have been promoted to the rank of Senior Traffic Wardens. During the past two and a half years, through 26 DPCs, as many as 3,175 officers have been promoted. This includes 2,107 Sub-Inspectors promoted to Inspector and 1,068 Traffic Wardens promoted to Senior Traffic Wardens.
He further said that in view of the rising cases of harassment and financial fraud, vigorous efforts are underway to establish a Cyber Crime Department at the provincial level. Across Punjab, mapping of locations is being carried out through 135,000 cameras under the Safe Cities Authority. In the upcoming Promotion Boards, the selection procedure will be made stricter, and the concerned RPOs will also be present online.
IG Punjab emphasized that officers must respond to nonstop promotions, welfare measures, upgradation, drones, and hi-tech equipment by serving citizens with utmost dedication. With the creation of new posts in Safe Cities, Elite, CCD, Riot Management, Tourism Police, Executive, Legal, and Patrolling, further opportunities for promotions have opened. He directed that, keeping in view all aspects of force governance, effective policing should ensure the writ of the government.
The process of departmental promotions for police officers demonstrating outstanding performance is underway across the province. In this regard, a graceful rank pinning ceremony was held at the Police Office Layyah, where District Police Officer (DPO) Layyah, Muhammad Ali Waseem, along with DSP Investigation, pinned new ranks to the promoted officers.
