Lahore: The government’s decision to sack information minister Pervaiz Rashid for leaking a news item is not acceptable. The real culprit must be brought forth, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq said on Sunday.
“Pervaiz Rashid does not have the courage to take such a step. Therefore, his sacrifice will not hold good,” he said while addressing a rally at Wahdat Road, at the end of a three-day convention of the JI, Punjab. Haq said that the Panamagate had the names of the prime minister’s children. “So, how can the prime minister be declared innocent?” he questioned.
“The government has wasted six months of the nation, but has neither set up a judicial commission nor initiated any inquiry into Panamagate. I will once again urge the prime minister to give up inflexibility. He should get ready for his own accountability and that of his children,” he said.
Haq said that a tug of war was going on in the federal capital. “The Supreme Court is the key in this situation,” he said.
The JI chief said that present or past rulers should not be under the impression that they would be allowed to get away with looting public money.
“Each penny of embezzled public money will be accounted for. The plunderers will have to pay for the loot as well as for their arrogance. The nation also wants an account of Qaraz Utaro, Mulk Sanwaro, Iqra Surcharge, and Friends of Pakistan schemes,” he said.
Haq said that the economic problems of the country would be resolved if Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari brought their foreign wealth back to Pakistan.
He condemned the terrorist attacks in Quetta, Mardan and Karachi. Addressing the rally, JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that the party would not rest until corruption had been eliminated.
