The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former state minister Zartaj Gul. As per details, Chief Justice PHC Muhammad Ibrahim heard the plea seeking protective bail and barred police from arresting the former minister Zartaj Gul. Moreover, the court ordered the PTI leader and former minister to submit the surety bonds tomorrow. Last year in August, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Zartaj Gul was booked over ‘corruption’ charges. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team conducted a raid at Zartaj Guls’ residence to arrest her but she was not at home. Earlier, Zartaj Gul broke into tears while apologising for her alleged involvement in the May 9 riots, fearing arrest by police from the court premises. Speaking to journalists at the Peshawar High Court, as she appeared before the PHC for the hearing of her plea for a transit bail, the former climate change minister apologised over riots that erupted after the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan on May 9, 2023, during which protesters targeted and vandalised security installations.
