HYDERABAD – At least 12 people were killed and several others injured when a train crashed into a truck near Tando Jam, a private TV channel reported.
Police said that driver of a Mazda Truck carrying over 20 persons of Kolhi community tried to cross the main railway track from gateless railway crossing of Village Mureed Sipiyo, a kilometre away from Allah Dino Sand Railway Station. The Fareed Express hit the Mazda Truck and dragged it around one and half kilometers from the crossing.
The bodies were shifted to nearby hospitals in Tando Jam and Hyderabad. Pakistan Railways official Nasir Nazir said that the staff of the train remained unhurt while the engine was slightly damaged in the accident. He said that the engine would be brought back to Karachi for repair.
